The Good News.
The reason we are here is to tell you about Him!
God’s gift of forgiveness through His Son Jesus Christ fuels everything we do as a church, and is the reason we exist. God loves you and has a plan for your life – it’s true!
Many spend their lives trying to earn God’s approval by following rules or being a good person. But God says “That’s not the way.” There is only one way to a purposeful life and an eternal future in heaven – through a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.
1) God loves YOU.
God loves YOU with a love that is everlasting and He has given you the precious gift of His Son Jesus Christ to save you from your sins.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
2) You are a sinner.
YOU are a sinner. I am a sinner. We all are because we disobey God. Sin is choosing to go your own way and do your own thing as opposed to being obedient to God.
There is none righteous, no, not one. (Romans 3:10)
3) Sin separates you from God.
Sin prevents YOU from having a close fellowship with God, Who is holy. And not just that, sin’s consequence is an eternal punishment in hell.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
4) You cannot save yourself.
We like to think that we can overcome the problem of sin that separates us from God through our own efforts. But God says there is nothing YOU can do to restore the broken relationship with Him. You cannot earn God’s salvation by your own efforts.
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit. (Titus 3:5)
5) God sent His Son Jesus to pay the penalty for our sins.
What you cannot do for yourself, Jesus Christ has done for YOU! Your sins separate you from God. But the Good News is that Jesus died on the cross for you and then rose from the dead to demonstrate that His payment was acceptable to God. By taking your punishment for sin on Himself, Jesus made a way for you to have a relationship with God.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
6) You can receive Jesus Christ through faith.
Faith is trusting in what Jesus has done for YOU rather than trusting your own efforts to restore fellowship with God. Faith is complete reliance on Christ to put you in a right relationship with God, allowing Him to live His life through you. Faith also involves repentance or genuine sorrow for sin and willingness to turn away from sin.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)
So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” (Acts 16:31)
That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10)
7) Through prayer you can trust in Jesus Christ.
Admit to God that YOU are a sinner. Express repentance for your sinfulness. Ask Him to forgive your sins. Invite Jesus into your life as Savior and Lord. Commit yourself to live for Him.
