Where are the nine?

We were in a big circle. As usual, we took turns in sharing our prayergroup prayer requests before dividing into groups of 3s and 4s. This Sunday afternoon prayer meeting in our basement is one of the ministries I look forward whenever I am going to KL. This is where I had a glimpse of the hearts of the brethren.

One newly baptized lady, shared with a mixture of excitement and shame, ”  God is very faithful to me. I had so many prayers and He answered all of them. However, I forgot to thank Him. May He will forgive me. I just want to thank God today

Indeed, how easy it is for us to ask Him for help in times of need. But, we tend to forget to thank Him when these needs are met.   When the church is in dire need, many will turn out to pray in the prayer meetings.  After the crisis is over,  only very few will come.  Could this be an evidence of our “asking” attitude  prevailing over our “thanking” attitude? During Jesus time, He  healed ten lepers simultaneously but only one came back and he was a Samaritan(Luke 17:11-19).

It seems to me that the percentage of gratefulness since then had not changed a bit.  Where are the nine? Jesus asked.  This question is still looming among God’s people today. By God’s grace, can we commit to abound with thanksgiving, as we pray and supplicate?

(Phil 4:6)  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
