The age riddle“What is in a person that just goes up and will never come down?”, asked the seven year old girl. She raised her eyebrows as she glanced at me confident that the question was real difficult for me to answer. She was disappointed that I knew the answer I like to play riddles with young children for it will prod them to think. We all know that every person’s age just add up year after year. He will never be back to his youthful years. However, many live as if they don’t believe that their days are numbered. They become oblivious to their weakening strength and vigor. Regrettably, they lost their golden opportunities to serve God while they were young and energetic to things of no eternal value. Even the psalmist Moses recognized this concern in his life. He humbly pleaded, ” Teach me to number my days that I may apply my heart unto wisdom(Psa. 90:12)” . How apt was the urging of king Solomon to remember our Creator in the days of our youth. (Ecc.12:1). There is a focus to commit out from the reality of aging. Can we join the apostle Paul, who said “For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain (Phil.1:21)? For our lives will soon pass and only what we’ve done for Chist will last. This can be the only smartest way to number our days on earth. |
