Have passion for ChristI and my wife got into the bus and sat next to a guy in his mid 20′s. Not that I was prying but I saw him unzipped his knapsack and took out his Marlboro pack of cigarettes. He pulled two sticks out. What is he going to do? I was curious. The next thing he did was to sniff profusely the filter tips of the cigarette sticks. It was noticeable though he tried to conceal it. He reminded me of people fond of inhaling vaporizers when having severe stuffy nose problems. Immediately after he disembarked, he got his lighter and lighted his stick. As we sped off, I saw him puffing with pleasure at the side of the bus stop. Until this experience, I didn’t see a man so excited with his cigarette. I pity this young guy for being hooked to something that might affect adversely his health sooner or later. As I mulled over the scene, I was checking whether I have had my passion to my God. Its a disgrace when Christians are not excited anymore in their relationship with God. I thought. If others can be passionate over things of no eternal values, how much more for Christians toward God. Are we not enjoined to love Him with all our hearts, soul, mind and strength? Let’s not be ashamed to be called an enthusiast, maybe fanatic, to our Christ. |
