Biblical Paradigms Part 7A common problem in traditional church is the role of the pastor. He is often seen to be the church’s “Superman”. From preaching to sweeping, from evangelism to visitation, from writing books to writing church bulletins, from counselling to cleaning toilets, the Super Pastor is to do it all. And the church members happily tithe to support the pastor. What happens is that a hundred people pay one man to do the job of a hundred man! No matter the local church is stagnant. It is upside down. Because the Pastor is not doing what he is called of God to do. And the church members are not doing what God wants them to do. The Bible is clear. The Pastor is to equip the saints to do the work of the ministry. (Eph 4:11) Notice: he does not do the work. His primary responsibility is to equip his people to do the work. Pastors are to prioritise- to pray and to preach. Do not be overwhelmed by the tyranny of the urgent. And the people of God (when properly fed and equipped) is the body of Christ that will do God’s work. Related posts Biblical Paradigms Part 1 |
