The lamp post

I became curious. Why the light in this  lamp post is not as bright as the rest?
I was walking toward our block and I can spot the difference at a distance. In a row of ten lamp posts, this  one is obviously dimmer than the rest. It became clearer to me when I stood directly [...]

The Christian influence

The sea was calm as oil. This segment of my recent Philippine trip to the  islands  of Cebu, Leyte and Bohol went smoothly. So, I slumped deep in my seat and my feet draped to have a relaxing nap, when all of the sudden the fastcraft began to shake violently. My wife,  beside me, moved with fear held [...]

Are they none of our business?

The passengers were relatively quiet as the bus was cruising well along Dunearn Road. It went to a halt when a commotion happened near  the exit door. Two men were exhanging harsh words at each other that awakened  even  passengers napping at their seats.

Where’s your Mission Field?

The boys, both aged 16, died after leaping from the window ledge  in August last year.
Witaya, the leader of a group dubbed “Sheng Long Fu” (House of the Almighty Dragon), had [...]

We praise God for the Missions efforts in GLCC. We rejoice in the Philippines Evangelistic campaigns, where tens of thousands of souls heard and received the Gospel. We rejoice in the Teaching Team preparing for Jogjakarta. We rejoice in Pastor Tupaz and family at the brink of serving in M’sia.
But what about here in Singapore? [...]

A 9yr old boy’s enthusiasm

I had the pleasure of conversing with a 9 yr old boy this evening.
He was brimming with enthusiasm as he told me about pythons, sharks, whales and all the animals he learned about from TV.
I thought to myself, “do I have the same enthusiasm and passion to share with others about the Greatest Message of [...]

Understanding the local culture

I read about how some of Singapore’s new citizens are making an extra effort to better understand the local culture.
For example, two years ago Horst Hagemann changed from being a German to a Singaporean. He joined the Sembawang Residents Committee in June and home visits have helped him practise his Mandarin.
He said: “My problem is, [...]
