Suppose that a young man sent his fiancée a diamond ring costing him $10 000, placing it in a little case which the jeweller threw in for nothing. How disappointed he would be, if upon meeting her a few days later, she would say, "Sweetheart, that was a lovely little box you sent me. To take special care of it, I promise to keep it wrapped up in a safe place so that no harm shall come to it."

Daily Light On The Daily Path - March 10th
The Lord will provide.
God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering.
Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear. - There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob.
Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God. - Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; to deliver their soul from death.
My God shall supply all your need, according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. - He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. - The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusteth in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth: and with my song will I praise him.

What are we to make out of Elijah running away in panic when Jezebel threatened to kill him within 24 hours?
How come he could be so courageous at Mount Carmel, confronting 450 prophets of Baal alone and now panicking at Jezebel’s threat?
The problem was that at Mount Carmel, Elijah was looking to God (“thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant” – 1Kg 18:36) whereas now he was looking at himself (“And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life” – v3).
Most people fall at places where they think they are strongest (e.g. Job failed in his patience). Paul puts it this way:
“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall” (1Cor 10:12).
Heed this warning.
What happened when Elijah looked at himself instead of God?
He began to doubt his ownself. He saw failure when there was a great victory just recently.
This teaches us the importance to always be “looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith” (Heb 12:2a).
Are you doing this?
