Suppose that a young man sent his fiancée a diamond ring costing him $10 000, placing it in a little case which the jeweller threw in for nothing. How disappointed he would be, if upon meeting her a few days later, she would say, "Sweetheart, that was a lovely little box you sent me. To take special care of it, I promise to keep it wrapped up in a safe place so that no harm shall come to it."

Daily Light On The Daily Path - September 3rd
The serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: . . . your eyes
shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
FEAR, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
My brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.--Take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.--Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
GEN. 3. 4, 5. 2 Co. 11. 3. Ep. 6. 10, 11, 13-17. 2 Co. 2. 11.
This chapter opens with a massive coalition army led by 32 other kings under the control of Benhadad, king of Syria.
This formidable army was poised to attack Israel. Benhadad made a demand on Ahab, king of Israel:
“Thy silver and thy gold is mine; thy wives also and thy children, even the goodliest, are mine” (v3).
Ahab was prepared to concede to this demand.
See how people will cling on to dear life, ready to exchange their most treasured earthly possessions for it.
But the most treasured possession a man has is surely his own soul, yet he often does not think his soul is of value.
The bible asks:
“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matt 16:26).
